Focus on the woody olfactory family
The woody olfactory family is made up of aromas and essences extracted from wood, tree moss and plants. Earthy, vegetal and warm , the woody family enhances bold and warm characters. It immerses us in abundant nature, rich in intoxicating smells. Woody notes bring elegance and sophistication to a composition . They give the perfume warmth and character , and provide hold because they are excellent fixatives.
Woody fragrances are widely represented in men's perfumes , but the number of unisex and women's woody fragrances have increased in popularity in recent years. The ingredients of woody perfumes
The woody family brings together notes which each have their own olfactory particularity: each tree gives off a different scent depending on its origin and the climate of the place where it grows. We find in woody perfumes:
- Sandalwood : sweet , suave and creamy scent.
- Cedar wood : dry, raw smell, reminiscent of the smell of pencil lead.
- Oak moss : earthy and woody scent.
Certain notes do not come directly from wood but still have a woody scent:
- Patchouli : earthy and moist facets.
- Vetiver : smoky and sensual scent.
Most woody fragrances contain a combination of several woody notes rather than a single "wood" that predominates.
